“After disastrous visits to bridal wear shops, where I was treated like a leper due to my size 16 frame, I decided that I wanted to enjoy the experience of buying my wedding dress, rather than returning home in tears being told to go to an ”outsize bridal wear shop”! I was also bored with designs that I had seen every other bride wearing.

I wanted something different and unique to me, and so I found Karen in the Yellow Pages, and on looking at her website saw that she designed wedding dresses that were different from the norm.

I was looking for something to be made in velvet, and most definitely not cream, ivory or white. When I went for my appointments with Karen, I found a lovely relaxed atmosphere, with no other brides queuing up for their 10 minute slot, just myself on a one to one with her.

She was extremely patient and understanding, and she made me feel so special, as if I was the only bride she was working with. We painstakingly went through several colours in velvet, until I settled on red, and she listed and looked at my designs that I had sketched out on bits of paper as to how I wanted to look.

The end result was the most fantastic dream dress, that still reduces me to tears when I look back at the photos of me in it. I felt like a princess. The finished dress wasn’t something close to what I wanted, but the actual dream dress that I always wanted.

Karen has a rare talent for understanding and picking up exactly what a bride wants and expects from her dress. I found the whole experience to be relaxing, fun, exciting and extremely romantic, just as a bride should be. Her final attention to detail, right down to making my matching garter and handbag, just added to an already perfect wedding dress, and remarkable experience.
